Roundtable Xchange: Discussions on Shared Challenges

  • Jason Martin
    Director, Adversarial Research HiddenLayer
  • Derran Guinan
    Field CTO, Americas Veeam
  • The Resilient CISO: Planning for the Inevitable and Recovering Faster

Ransomware and other disruptive cyberattacks are no longer a matter of if, but when. This executive workshop helps CISOs and security leaders build cyber resilience by focusing on preparedness, business continuity, and rapid recovery. Through peer discussion and insights from industry leaders, attendees will learn how resilient organizations minimize disruption, recover faster, and maintain operational confidence in the face of inevitable attacks
    Key Takeaways:
    • How to define, measure, and strengthen cyber resilience.
    • Proven approaches for reducing downtime and accelerating recovery after an attack.
    • A practical resilience playbook informed by peer discussion and real-world ransomware scenarios.
  • Managing the Invisible Insider: When Agentic AI Becomes the Threat

Agentic AI systems are now executing real-world actions autonomously – and with that autonomy comes a new class of insider-like risk that operates at machine speed. This roundtable is structured around two focused discussions.
Part 1: The Risk Landscape: Grounded in real-world adversarial research against major agentic platforms, we’ll examine how techniques like prompt injection, tool and skill poisoning, and supply chain compromise turn trusted AI systems into insider threats – silently, and at scale.
Part 2: Controls and Guardrails: With the risks clearly framed, we shift to what to do about them – exploring how to scope permissions, define accountability for autonomous actions, and draw practical lines on human oversight. We’ll also discuss how to implement effective guardrails that constrain agent behavior without undermining the speed and utility that make agentic AI valuable in the first place.
Participants will leave with a clearer picture of the threat and actionable strategies to bring back to their teams.

  • Backed Up ≠ Bounced Back: Rethinking Resilience for the AI Era

AI is transforming how organizations create, access, and protect data—while simultaneously giving attackers new capabilities. At the same time, ransomware has evolved from an IT incident into a business-continuity crisis. Add hybrid and multi-cloud complexity, data sprawl, third-party and supply-chain dependencies, expanding regulatory demands, and natural disasters, and the traditional question of “Do we have backups?” is no longer enough. The questions executives need to answer are harder: Can we trust our data? Can we protect it? And when disruption occurs, can we recover quickly, confidently, and prove it? For organizations already navigating competing priorities, limited resources, and growing complexity, resilience can no longer be an afterthought. It must be designed into how the business operates. This 45-minute, no-slides, no-sales-pitch peer discussion brings CIOs and CISOs together for an open and candid conversation about how they are approaching data resilience in an increasingly unpredictable world. Where are their strategies being tested? What assumptions are proving outdated? And what does true readiness look like when disruption is no longer a question of if, but when? Veeam will facilitate the conversation, but the insights will come from the executives in the room.

    Key Takeaways

    • Reframe resilience as a business outcome, not an IT checkbox: Learn how peers are moving from “we have backups” to recovery that’s proven, tested and measurable, and how they’re aligning the C-suite and board around business continuity for ransomware, disasters and outages.
    • Get ahead of AI-driven risk on both sides: Hear how other leaders are governing the sensitive data flowing into AI tools while defending against faster, more convincing AI-powered attacks, all without slowing down innovation.
    • Practical ways to do more with less: Take away real-world approaches for cutting complexity across cloud, data sprawl, third-party risk and compliance, so small teams can put their effort where it lowers risk the most.

In this interactive session, our event partners will take the lead in initiating and facilitating conversations centered on challenges and solutions within the industry. Attendees can expect dynamic discussions where diverse perspectives are shared, fostering collaborative problem-solving and the exploration of innovative solutions to common industry hurdles.

Tech Tale: Organizational Change Management in Technology Transformations

  • Rahoul Ghouse
    CIO ECMC Group

ECMC Group migrated their internal technology portfolio to the AWS CLOUD and re-architected it as a SaaS platform for generating new business. This was a significant change for a company in the financial services industry, given that the technology ecosystem is critical to company success. The rewards from this initiative would have been high, but the impact of failure would also have been catastrophic. Furthermore, a transformation of this magnitude was a first for the company, therefore it was critical to build confidence within business leadership that it could be done, and within the IT team that they could deliver. This talk will focus on the criticality of change-leadership for technology-enabled initiatives, how it was orchestrated in this situation and the lessons learned that eventually led to a successful outcome.

Does Your Organization Bend or Snap Under Stress?

  • Derran Guinan
    Field CTO, Americas Veeam

Most organizations don’t discover their resilience gaps during an audit. They discover them at 3am, when the restore completes successfully and the application still won’t start — because the thing it depended on wasn’t in scope.
CIOs and CISOs are running environments more interconnected and data-dependent than anything they’ve managed before. Controls pass. Backups report green. Recovery plans exist and have been signed off. None of that tells you how the organization behaves under stress.
That’s where the real weaknesses live: in the assumptions nobody wrote down, the dependencies nobody mapped, and the handoffs between security and IT that only get tested during an actual incident.

This session looks at resilience as a single problem spanning security, IT, data, and recovery rather than four separate ones. We’ll cover where hidden risk tends to surface, why recovery belongs in the security and technology strategy instead of alongside it, and the question most teams haven’t answered: you can restore the data, but can you trust it?

Join this session to explore:
• Why recovery belongs inside your security strategy, not beside it
• Where undocumented dependencies and assumptions create real exposure
• What it takes to trust recovered data and systems
• Why the gap between security and IT is still where incidents get expensive

Lunch & 1:1 Xchange

Fireside Chat: Technology Cost Optimisation - Managing Risk While Making the Most of What You Have

  • Kenny Vargas
Head of Software and Data Engineering Piper Sandler
  • Guru Sathyanath
    Senior Director - IT UnitedHealthcare

As technology costs continue to rise and vendors increase licensing, subscription, and service fees, technology leaders are under growing pressure to deliver greater value with finite budgets. Cost optimisation is no longer just about reducing spend, it’s about making smarter investment decisions, eliminating waste, negotiating greater value from suppliers, and ensuring every technology investment delivers measurable business outcomes. In this fireside chat, we’ll explore how technology and security leaders balancing innovation with financial discipline, managing risk while optimising spend, and proving ROI in an environment where doing more with less has become the new normal.

Key discussion points:
• How are organisations responding to increasing technology, cloud, software, and vendor costs while continuing to innovate?
• How do leaders reduce costs, consolidate platforms, and rationalise investments without increasing operational, cyber, or business risk?
• What metrics, business outcomes, and commercial value resonate most with executives and secure continued investment in technology?

Tech Tale: The Leadership Accountability Test

  • Kristine Boike
Head of Information Security Dorsey + Whitney LLP

A quick tale that explores how this technology transformation plan owner kept the board accountable to its original targets, success measures, and promised business value. Transformation rarely unfolds under static conditions; market shifts, emerging technologies, operational pressures, and stakeholder demands tested strategic discipline. Navigating change management, especially when the transformation is lengthy, required strong oversight. Effective leaders distinguish necessary adaptation from distraction. By integrating technology risk management, enterprise risk management, and change management into the transformation governance, the transformation owner provided decision-ready insight, exposed the consequences of departing from outcomes, and preserved ownership of tradeoffs. This disciplined approach helped boards to resist the temptation to chase shiny objects, forced to redefine success after the fact, or allow short-term pressures to erode long-term value.
